General overview... Indonesia is an Archipelago... the world largest archipelago. We have over 13.000 islands strech from Sabang to Merauke. Its size is almost as big as North America. But the land itself is only 1/5 of a percent and the rest is water. The main island are Java, Bali, Madura, Lombok, Sumatera, Kalimantan (other country call it Borneo), Sulawesi and Timor...and the rest are smaller island. overall about 3500 islands out of 13.000 island are inhabited. Geographical location: Indonesia located in the South East of Asia along the Equator bordering with Malaysia on the North side and Papua New Guinea on the East side. Population: about 200 million people live in Indonesia.The most dense population is in Java where big cities like Bandung Jogyakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, Malang and capital city (Jakarta) are located. That is understandable, because just like big cities around the world... New York... Atlanta... Boston... Los Angeles etc... are also packed with people, trafic jams, homeless people, corporate leaders, and C.E.Os. (Chief Executive Officer) you see it everywhere and everyday. Universities: In West Java there are University of Indonesia (Jakarta), and University of Parahyangan and Institute Technology Bandung(ITB)Located in Bandung. Central Java there are... University of Gajahmada (Jogyakarta) and University of Surabaya and Institute of Technology Surabaya (ITS) located in East Java. I will update this list as I get more Information. Languages: Official language is BAHASA INDONESIA (Not Malay) In a way there are some similarity with Phillipino language. For example... Payung is an Umbrella in both Indonesia and Phillipines. School System: Children from Kindergarten thru Middle School, they have previllege to enjoy this education for free. But from High School thru college you have your own choice of school at your own expense. My favourite recipe: Sate Ayam (Chicken kabob). Ingredients: Chicken, Boneless, skinless, Slice it into strips. Marinated with sauce that it is very easy to prepare: Brown Sugar, Salt, Garlic & Onion powder, tablespoon oil, and teaspoon of corstarch. refrigerated overnight. Slide marinated chicken in the bamboo skewer, Grill chicken in a charcoal grill, about 3 minutes of each side. ... There you have it. enjoy!!Its the most delicious meal. Do you want to learn about Indonesian language the easiest way? Just remember the following basic sentences of day to day routines. Lesson 1 = Pe-la-jar-an ke-sa-tu Apa? = (What) Asks about animals and things Si-apa? = (who) ask about people Hello how are you = Hallo a-pa kha-bar Fine, thank you = ba-ik, te-ri-ma ka-sih What is your name? = si-a-pa-kah na-ma an-da? My name is Ivan = na-ma sa-ya Ivan Where are you from? = ber-a-sal dari ma-na-kah an-da? where do you live? = di-ma-na-kah an-da ting-gal You have to add "KAH" in front of these basic words to make interrogative sentences. APA = si-apa-kah (who), Apa-kah (what is) ,Meng-apa-kah (why), Ber-apa-kah(how much). Another samples: MANA short for Di-MA-NA-kah means where (it is), Ke-ma-na-kah = where (are you going), Ba-gai-ma-na-kah (How). In a sentences: Apakah = apakah itu? (what is that) Siapakah = Siapakah yang punya rumah itu? (Who own that house?) Today's vocabs: I = A-ku One = Sa-tu Me = Sa-ya Two = Du-a You = Ka-mu, An-da Three = Ti-ga Sir = Ba-pak Four = Em-pat Madam = Nyo-nya Five = Li-ma Miss = No-na Six = E-nam We = Ka-mi Seven = Tu-ju They = Me-re-ka Eight = De-la-pan Lesson = Pe-la-ja-ran Nine = Sem-bi-lan From = Da-ri Ten = Se-pu-luh Sister = Kakak perempuan(Older) Adik perempuan (younger) Brother = Kakak laki-laki(older) Adik laki-laki (Younger) Lesson II - Pelajaran II There are no Irregular Verb inIndonesian Language Examples in sentences: The butterfly flew away - Kupu sudah terbang. I will fly GIA - Saya akan terbang dengan GIA. As you can see that the present & past tense both using the same words "Terbang" means Fly or flew.
